OUR STORY

Founded in 1914, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary has proudly served veterans, service members, their families, and communities for more than a century. As one of America's oldest veterans' service organizations, the VFW Auxiliary is made up of nearly 480,000 members in more than 3,500 Auxiliaries nationwide who volunteer millions of hours and raise millions of dollars each year to improve the lives of veterans, military families, and their communities. Through its National Programs, the Auxiliary advocates for legislation affecting veterans, volunteers throughout the VA health care system, promotes patriotism and civic responsibility through youth and community programs, and awards scholarships that invest in the next generation.

Organized in 1926, the VFW Auxiliary Department of Oklahoma has proudly carried that mission forward for 100 years. Across the Sooner state, Oklahoma Auxiliaries have built a legacy of compassion, service, and patriotism by supporting veterans, active-duty service members, and their families through legislative advocacy, hospital and nursing home volunteerism, youth scholarships, patriotic education, community outreach, and assistance to military families. From rural communities to our largest cities, Oklahoma members continue to make a meaningful difference by honoring the sacrifices of those who have served, preserving their legacy, and responding to the evolving needs of today's veterans. As we celebrate our Centennial, we remain dedicated to strengthening our communities and ensuring that the spirit of service continues for generations to come.
