Buddy poppy™

A timeless symbol of service and sacrifice.

The Buddy Poppy™ is the official memorial flower of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Inspired by the fields of poppies that bloomed across the battlefields of World War I, the Buddy Poppy serves as a lasting tribute to the men and women who have served in defense of our nation and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Since 1922, the VFW has distributed Buddy Poppies™ as a symbol of remembrance and gratitude. Today, VFW Auxiliary members across Oklahoma proudly participate in this tradition by distributing Buddy Poppies™ within their communities, educating the public about their significance, and raising funds to support veterans, service members, and their families.

Why the Buddy Poppy™ Matters

Every Buddy Poppy™ represents:

  • Honoring the sacrifices of America's veterans.

  • Remembering those who never returned home.

  • Supporting veterans through VFW and VFW Auxiliary programs.

  • Preserving a tradition of remembrance for future generations.
