Sisters and Brothers,

As we move into August, I hope many of you have had the opportunity to rest, recharge, and begin planning for the exciting year ahead. We have already accomplished much together, and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve as we continue moving forward as one Department.

Please keep these upcoming dates on your calendar:

  • School of Instruction – Tulsa Post 577 – August 29, 2026

  • Fall Festival – October 9-11, 2026

  • Southern Conference – Mobile, Alabama – October 22-25, 2026

  • National President Donna Mills Visit to Oklahoma – November 21-23, 2026

  • National Mid-Year Conference – February 2-7, 2027

  • VFW / VFW Auxiliary Midwinter Conference – February 19-21, 2027

  • Department Convention – June 3-6, 2027

Last month, I shared the meaning behind my theme, "The Power of One." Since then, one question has come up several times: "What does 'I Am One' mean?"

The answer is actually quite simple.

"I Am One" is not about one person being more important than another. It is a reminder that every member has value. Every member has ideas. Every member has talents. Every member has something unique to contribute to our Auxiliary.

When you say, "I Am One," you’re making a commitment to be a thought that inspires, a voice that encourages, a light that guides, and a part of the future we are building together. It is a reminder that meaningful change often begins when one person decides to step forward.

I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to each of our Districts for completing your elections so promptly following the recent redistricting. Change often brings challenges, yet each of you demonstrated professionalism, cooperation, and a willingness to move forward together. You exemplified not only The Power of One, but also the Oklahoma Standard—neighbors helping neighbors, members supporting members, and everyone working together for the good of the Department. Thank you for your dedication and flexibility during this transition.

As we begin attending Department functions, I would also like to share the official look for this year. The official attire will include a black shirt worn beneath the official blue Department shirt, and for our gentlemen, a black necktie. I appreciate everyone's support in presenting a professional and unified appearance as we represent the Department of Oklahoma throughout the year.

As we continue this journey together, I hope each of you finds opportunities to celebrate the moments that matter most. Whether you are marking a birthday, an anniversary, welcoming a new member, or simply enjoying time with family and friends, may those moments bring you joy. If life places challenges in your path, may you find strength in those around you and encouragement in knowing that your Auxiliary family stands beside you. Above all, I wish you good health, safe travels, and countless opportunities to continue serving our veterans, their families, and your communities with pride and compassion.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving beside you. I look forward to seeing many of you in Tulsa and throughout the coming months as we continue proving what can happen when every member chooses to be The Power of One.

In Devoted Service,

Frank Matek
