Scholarship & Contest Deadlines are Coming!

How is everyone? School has started and our programs are ramping up! Let’s show the “Power of One” by “Serving Americas Heroes”. Are you aware of all VFW and VFW Auxiliary scholarships, contest and award deadlines for the 2026-2027 Program Year?

Let’s start with these 3 this month:

October 31, 2026: VFW Voice of Democracy

October 31, 2026: VFW Patriot’s Pen

November 15, 2026: VFW “Sport Clips Help A Hero” Scholarship

VOICE OF DEMOCRACY AND PATRIOT’S PEN

Get with your Commander/Patriots Pen and VOD Chairman and determine if the Post has signed up for the Scholars App! If they have not: CONTACT Jim Bassett and get signed up so you can get your QR codes and flyers made for the students! Get an article in the paper. If you need a word document for your local paper, I have one that all you have to do is change the contact information on. Text or email and I will send it to you! Contact all your local schools and get copies of each program to the Counselor, High School Principal, English Teachers, Art

Teachers. With your smaller schools, contact the Superintendent or Principal. Go to the Library and leave information. Homeschooled students are also eligible. Remember to send reports in on your time spent on the program, mileage, number of schools contacted, etc.

Don’t forget our newest Department Art Contest for our Veterans ONLY! More next month on this program. Deadline for “Through a Veterans Eyes” Art Contest is January 31st, 2027 to Local Auxiliaries and Post. Judging will be at Mid-Winter Conference.
