This year is starting out amazing y’all! So many reports already coming though, Thank you! Let’s keep rolling that red carpet out and make it another awesome year! The “Power if One” starts with you and becomes many if everyone is

working together. We are “Serving Americas Hero’s”. Patriotism is more than loving our country; it is also demonstrated through our commitment to the communities and organization we serve. In our organization, we show this by taking pride in our work, respecting one another, and putting the common good above personal interests.

I’m being told of several Post and Auxiliaries already receiving Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen essays. Let’s continue to contact schools and clubs and get the information out there to all eligible students. If you have numerous entries, think about sharing some with other Auxiliaries that haven’t received any, ask your District President “who needs help with a few entries?”. That way more of our deserving students get exposure to our programs and they will remember to tell other students, not only this year but also next year. Deadline is shortly after Fall Festival and now is the time to start thinking about your judges. Remember all entries must be received by October 31st to your Auxiliary or Post, with District receiving your local winners by November 15th (if this date changes, I will let everyone know). District winners then go on to be judged at the Department Level.

Remember the VFW’s “Sports Clips Help-a-Hero Scholarship” which awards scholarships to qualifying service members and veterans with financial assistance they need to complete their education goals without incurring excessive debt by student loans. You can find more information in MALTA under the Veterans and Family support programs tab. (The Auxiliary hasn’t adopted the VFW scholarship, so it is reported under Veterans and Family Support).

Soon we will want to start making sure we get the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest and 3-D Patriotic Art Contest out to the schools as well. This is for grades 9th through12th.

I should have all the information for “Through a Veterans Eyes” our Veterans only Art Program available at Fall Festival. The deadline for this program has changed to April 15th, with judging at the Department level by April 30th.

Be safe and I hope to see everyone at Fall Festival.
