Our National Hospital Program Auxiliary Ambassador suggests for this program year we focus on the WHAT by outlining clear, concise goals for the Hospital Program. This might be creating a list of meaningful ways your auxiliary can support our veterans.

Looking for a meaningful way to support our veterans:

  • Holiday card group (check your calendar for important dates to plan ahead), receiving a thoughtful greeting card helps bring comfort and encouragement they are not forgotten.

  • Making blankets or walker caddies for hospital or veteran facility veterans.

  • Fundraising for the hospital program to purchase supplies like small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, nail files, etc. Check with your facility to find out exactly what they might need.

  • Placing donation boxes at your post for sweats for vets (all donations must be new with tags still on). The VA Hospitals store these in various sizes for the veterans.

  • Taking part in recreational activities at veteran facilities.

  • Volunteering at a VA Center. Recruiting volunteers who are able to volunteer at VA Hospitals.

  • Contacting your veteran care facilities to find out what their veteran residents might need,

  • Find out if your VA Hospital has a veteran baby shower annually, supplies for this event might be diapers, wipes, receiving blankets, etc.

  • Maybe you don’t have time to make cards, walker caddies, etc. you could be the one who donates the supplies to support those in your auxiliary that do and can make these items.

Every act of kindness – big or small makes a difference in a veteran’s life. Making blankets, and walker caddies, lets our veterans know they are remembered and appreciated. Donating items for the women veteran’s baby shower helps give them a good start before their baby is born.

Don’t forget to get your quotas in too, this is an important goal of each auxiliary that supports all facilities. Don’t forget we also collect donations for the Hospital Program Christmas Fund. This helps provide items to all facility veterans. These funds are not combined; the Christmas donation fund is completely separate from the quotas.

Together, we can make a lasting impact in the lives of those who have served our country. Thank you for supporting our VETERANS!

Remember our mission, every member has a voice for serving “Our Veterans, Their Families, and the Community”,

“Serving America’s Heroes” and “The Power of One”
