Every strong organization has a story—and every strong organization has a future.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary has a proud history of standing beside our veterans, supporting their families, serving our communities, and carrying out the mission of the VFW. But protecting that legacy means more than remembering where we came from. It means making sure there are people ready to carry the torch forward.
That is where Extension and Revitalization come in.
Extension is about reaching out. There are veterans' families, friends, and community members who may be eligible to become part of the Auxiliary but simply have never been asked. Sometimes one conversation, one invitation, or one personal connection is all it takes to introduce someone to an organization where they can make a difference.
Revitalization is about looking at the members we already have—and reminding them that they are valued. An inactive member may not need a sales pitch. They may simply need a phone call, a friendly invitation, or to know that their Auxiliary still has a place for them.
Most importantly, membership is not just about numbers. It's about people.
Every new member brings experiences, ideas, talents, and connections that can strengthen our programs. A retired teacher might help with youth activities. A community volunteer might know new ways to reach local families. Someone who has never held an Auxiliary position may have exactly the fresh perspective we need.
We don't have to wait for someone to walk through our doors.
Let's open the door for them.
Invite someone to a meeting. Ask an eligible family member to join you at an event. Reach out to a former member. Introduce yourself to a veteran's family at a community gathering. Tell people—not just what the VFW Auxiliary is, but why it matters to you.
Our future will be built one relationship at a time.
The work we do today creates the Auxiliary that tomorrow's veterans and their families will depend on. Let's honor our past by strengthen-ing our present and building an Auxiliary that will be here for generations to come.
Extend. Revitalize. Welcome. Serve.
Together, we can keep the VFW Auxiliary moving forward. We are the power of one.
